Privacy Policy

We attach maximum importance to protecting your data and safeguarding your privacy. Therefore, we provide information below regarding collection and use of personal data while using our website.

Anonymous data collection

You can visit our websites without having to provide any personal details. We do not save any personal data in this connection. In order to improve our offer, we evaluate only the statistical data, which does not allow any inference of your personal details.

Server log files

You can use our websites without submitting personal data. Every time you access our website, user data is transmitted by your internet browser and stored in protocol files (server log files). This stored data includes e.g. name of the site called up, date and time of the request, amount of data transferred and the provider making the request. This data serves exclusively to ensure smooth operation of our website and to improve our offering. It is not possible to assign this data to a particular person.

Collection and processing while using the registration form

When using the registration/login form, we collect personal data (particulars of personal or objective relationships of a particular or definable natural person) only within the scope provided by you. We use your email address only for processing your registration and login. Your data will be deleted, if you delete the INSTAR Cloud Account by yourself or if it becomes inactive (incl. a respite).

We collect personal data (particulars of personal or objective relationships of a particular or definable natural person) only within the scope provided by you. Your personal data is processed and used for completing and processing your registration and login to the INSTAR Cloud Account.

Using the email address for sending newsletters

Your email address, which is assigned to the account, is used for the login in as well as for sending information regarding your INSTAR Cloud Account. These emails are NOT a newsletter, but necessary information regarding your INSTAR Cloud account. This email address serves as the basis for communication with you (the customer) and will continue to be used as such.

We use your email address irrespective of the order processing solely for our advertising purposes for sending direct mail. If you do not approve of this, you can always dissent from the use. The dissent can be expressed with any means of communication, not only via email. However, it must reach us for it to be effective. According to the base rates, there are no costs for this other than the transfer costs. The contact data for exercising the dissent can be taken from About Us; you can also use the corresponding link in the newsletter for this.

Forwarding personal data

Your data is not forwarded to any third parties.

Cookies

The INSTAR Cloud website uses a so-called session cookie. Cookies are small text files, which are stored on your computer and which your browser saves. This session cookie creates a temporary random identifier, which will be deleted after a period of time, and detects if you are already logged in or not. This Cookie does not contain any personal data.

Rain, object, license plate and other AI detection

You can optionally activate an additional artificial detection for each of your cameras in the cloud. We run an extended algorithm over your video to analyse it. By activating one of these detections, you agree that we can check the video with one of our algorithms and classify it accordingly. If a detection is incorrect, you can freely decide whether you want to provide this recording to INSTAR in order to improve the algorithm. If you do not explicitly release a recording, INSTAR will not access or view this recording in any way.

Information, correction, blocking and deletion of data

At all times, you have the right to free information about your saved data as well as the right to correction, deletion and blocking of the same. Please contact us if required. You will find the contact details in our Legal Notice.

IFTTT

When you connect the INSTAR service to the IFTTT website or to the IFTTT app, your INSTAR Cloud account is automatically stored in the IFTTT platform. All personal data - like your email address or Cloud ID are anonymised and your Cloud account is protected from a direct access by the IFTTT service.

The INSTAR service can then communicate with the INSTAR cloud and camera. We will use your INSTAR cloud account to manage your INSTAR Cloud Platform. For example, we use the INSTAR Cloud Account to:
1.Change your alarm settings;
2.Check the status of storage;
3.Check the status of alarm events;

Apart from this, we also will use the INSTAR cloud account to get your camera P2P ID and camera username and password (only if you added this information in the INSTAR cloud platform before). Your camera P2P ID and camera username and password will be used to manage your camera, including:
1. Turn on/off motion detection;
2. Turn on/off alarm email;
3. Turn camera to a preset position;
4. Switch alarm areas;
5. Set the alarm area sensitivity;

You can activate any functions according to your own needs. If you do not want to control your camera, we will not request your camera P2P ID and camera username and password.

Alexa

When you activate the INSTAR cloud skill through Amazon, your INSTAR cloud account is automatically saved in the Amazon Alexa platform.

We will use your INSTAR cloud account to manage your INSTAR cloud platform. We will use it to:
1. Change your alarm settings;
2. Get the status of alarm events;
2. Get the status of storage;
3. Get the alarm videos;

Apart from this, we will also use the INSTAR Cloud Account to get your camera P2P ID and camera username and password (only if you added this information in the INSTAR cloud platform before). Your camera P2P ID and camera username and password will be used to manage your camera, including:
1.Turn on/off motion detection;
2.Watch the live video of your camera;

Google

When you activate the INSTAR Cloud action through the Google Home App, the credentials of your INSTAR Cloud account will automatically be saved in the Google platform. We will use the INSTAR Cloud Account to get your cameras P2P ID and camera username and password (only if you added this information in the INSTAR cloud platform before and you gave permission to Google to use them).Your camera P2P ID and camera username and password will be used to watch the live video of your cameras.


Terms & Conditions

Information about intensive or irregular usage

The INSTAR Cloud is only build to store alarm videos from INSTAR HD or Full-HD cameras (third party cameras might be included in the future). When you set up your INSTAR Cloud on the cameras WebUI, the cameras settings will be adjusted that only alarm videos will be uploaded to the cloud. The average running time of an alarm video is 18s, in case of a longer alarm-event the camera will upload a sequence of alarms.

The uploaded data will be checked on the server and only videos from officially supported IP cameras are accepted and stored. Any other data will be automatically and immediately removed.

If the running time from an alarm video is longer than 18s, than this is due to modified firmware, which is not officially supported by the INSTAR Cloud. In that cases we can not guarantee the timely processing of the files. INSTAR hereby reserves the right to ask the customer to update the camera to the original firmware version or may process the videos with a time delay in order to guarantee the proper service for other customers. In rare cases INSTAR reserves the right to take further actions to guarantee the normal usage of the INSTAR Cloud.

If a camera uploads a long series of alarms without any interruptions, than INSTAR may assume, that the customer causes a constant alarm on purpose. Further evidence can come from the False-Alarm-Detection algorithm implemented into to the INSTAR Cloud service. In case of a constant alarm recording or a high False-Alarm-Rate, INSTAR hereby reserves the right to delay the data processing for this camera or in rare cases to completely stop it, as this is a violation to the Fair-Use-Agreement. INSTAR guarantees to always contact the INSTAR Cloud-Account-Administrator first before doing so and also provides customer support to avoid false camera alarm settings to cause such a scenario.
